Dr. Garg moderated an educational panel on Complications in Head and Neck Reconstruction at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.
Dr. Garg was honored to serve as the inaugural speaker for the San Diego Indian Dental Association. He spoke about oral pathology, head and neck cancer, microvascular free flap reconstruction, and unique indications for combined orthognathic-microvascular surgery.
Dr. Garg had the honor of serving as an invited speaker for the Laguna Grande Center for Advanced Dental Education and Pala Mesa Collaborative Care Study Group. He spoke about head and neck cancer surgery and microvascular reconstruction.
Dr. Garg was awarded a "challenge coin" by his veteran patient three months after double jaw advancement surgery. This patient initially presented with sleep apnea and was seeking maxillomandibular advancement surgery. Following surgery, this brave patient's sleep apnea was cured and his occlusion was improved.
Drs. Mansfield and Garg have pioneered the "Jaw in a Day" surgery program at Scripps and are featured in San Diego Health Magazine. This innovative procedure allows removal of a jaw tumor and immediate reconstruction of the bone with a microvascular free flap as well as immediate restoration of teeth.

Dr. Garg served as a panelist at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. He discussed indications, operative strategies and outcomes for fibula versus scapula free flaps for midface reconstruction.
Dr. Ravi Garg and Dr. Scott Recksiedler of San Diego Prosthodontics perform the first free fibula 'Jaw in a Day' surgery at Scripps in San Diego. Dr. Garg resected a benign locally aggressive tumor from the maxilla and reconstructed the jaw immediately using a microvascular fibula free flap. He placed dental implants in the fibular bone and worked with Dr. Recksiedler to deliver an immediate dental prosthesis so that the patient would have her jaw and dentition restored in a single day. The patient has had an excellent result and is living her life fully, working and staying active with her husband in her free time.
